26th Century |
|
2501 | The Martian Collective moves to focus on peacetime industries. Military Forces are maintained at low-levels, mainly for trade security and intelligence missions. |
2509 | Terran and Martian forces begin Joint patrols of inner-solar trade routes. |
2512 | The Jovian Federation completes advanced refitting and reformation of the new Space Command. |
2515 | The Terran and Martian governments begin high-level negotiations concerning economic and military agreements, with the hope of strengthening the inner-solar system. |
2520 | Jovian space forces begin to shift the patrolling of Jovian borders from light security patrols to more heavily armored battle groups. |
2525 | Jovians ask inner-solar planets for permission to set up Federation outposts between Mars and Earth, as refueling stations, and other platforms for industrial expansion. Terran Republic governments begin debating the request, but are unable to come to a decision. |
2530’s | Terran and Martian governments grow fearful of the Jovian build up of space weapons and large battle groups near Terran and Martian Space. |
2535 | The Jovian Federation breaks diplomatic ties with the Republic, after further requests for outposts are denied. This action is viewed as a prelude to war. |
2536 | Martian and Terran Forces increase joint patrols near the Asteroid Belt. |
2537 | Martians find secret Jovian Asteroid base. |
2538 | The Jovian Federation attacks Martian outposts and patrols along the Martian side of the asteroid belt. Mars declares a State of War between the Collective and the Federation. |
2539 | Terran Republic Defense forces join with Martians to fight Jovian aggression. A tentative military treaty is established between Earth and Mars. |
2539 | Battle of Mars (also The Defense of Mars) |
| The main Jovian Attack Fleet launches its attack on Mars. Both Terran and Martian fleets work together to drive the Jovians back. This is the largest space battle to date. |
2539 | Martian Forces defeat remaining Jovian forces, one moon, asteroid and outpost at a time, over a nine month period. |
2540 | Jovian Forces retreat completely to Jovian Space with heavy loses. Much of the Jovian fleet is destroyed, and little if any defense can be mounted for the home planets. |
2541 | The Terran and Martian governments decide to refrain from launching a major counter-attack, and use their respective Defense Forces to begin a blockade of the Jovian Systems. |
2545 | The Terran Republic and the Martian Collective sign a non-aggression pact. |
2550’s | A huge effort is made to complete repairs to damaged facilities in and around Mars, while continuing to re-build defenses and prepare for future conflicts with the Jovians. |
2557 | A New Jovian government is elected. It establishes a looser form of government leaving most decisions to individual planetary governments. |
2562 | Blockade of Jovian space is halted, and limited trading with the Republic is allowed. |
2590’s
| Groups on both Earth and Mars begin to call for political change in the Jovian systems – sparking debate on possible military action.
|
| 2597 | Coded signals are picked up by deep space probes less than 1 light year from the solar system. It is widely believed that this may be the first communitcation from another galatic civilization. |
|
2599 | The 26th Century ends with the fear of another solar war breaking out at any time. All three factions prepare for another conflict, having forgotten the initital hopes and dreams of those that first reached out to the stars.
