24th Century |
|
2300 | Luna gains independence from Earth and becomes the second official Planetary Government. |
2306 | The Terran Republic warns of economic slow-downs on Earth, as resources are being depleted faster than previously estimated, with more than 8 billion people living on earth and system wide expansion peaking at its highest rate ever. |
2310 | Increased reliance on Lunar and Martian resources, as well as increased trade with the burgeoning Jovian planetary outposts, help keep the Republic together. |
2315 | The Inner-Space Transportation Hub is completed. |
2320 | Spacecraft from the various planetary governments and agencies are organized under the new Terran Republic Fleet, and controlled by the Terran Space Agency. Private ships are still owned and controlled by independent corporations or individuals. |
2325 | The Terran Defense Force Act of 2322 is approved. This is a System-wide initiative to build an Armed Space Fleet to defend the solar system from inside, or outside, threats. This includes construction of the newly designed inter-stellar exploration ships. |
2330 | Work begins on the first Fusion powered star ships. |
2331 | Jupiter Orbital Colony (near Ganymede) officially opens, and rapidly develops manufacturing and scientific industries. |
2350 | Terra-Forming of Mars now 87% complete. Atmosphere at 75% nominal earth levels. Lakes, forests, and fauna flourish across Mars. Humans born on Mars begin to evolve along a separate line from humans on Earth. Many Terrans take the flight from Earth to Mars in the coming years. |
2378 | The planetoids, colonies, and outposts around Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus join to form the Jovian Federation of Free Satellites. |
2379 | The colony on Titan is declared the capitol of the Federation – but, unlike the Martian Colonies, the physical distance between worlds, makes direct central control difficult. |
2381 | Venusian Ship Yards open. |
2385 | Asteroid mining and production facilities expand and develop into another form of human habitation. |
2386 | Jovians create the “Space Command” and begin production of highly advanced Patrol Ships. |
2387 | Mercury Outposts start operations, including the mining of heavy metals and other rare elements. |
2396 | Second Martian Revolt – Wide-spread rioting and looting, focused mainly in the cities. Martial Law is declared for 6 months, while it takes 2 months to completely put down the revolt. At least 9,000 Martians are taken prisoner or shipped to Jovian based work-camps. More than 3,000 Martians and Terrans are killed during the uprising and its suppression. |
2396 | The Martian Revolutionary Front holds control of much of Mars for a short period of time during the first few weeks of the Revolution. They capture key buildings in most major cities or colonies, and successfully convert many local police and corporate security forces, allowing them to remain in control. One space platform is captured and another damaged during an attempted boarding attack. |
