2214 | Earth to Mars Express begins operation - 4 to 8 weeks to Mars at high acceleration, used for business and tourism. |
2218 | The first incident of Space Piracy is recorded in Lunar space, as a passenger ship is attacked and boarded. All passengers and crew are killed. |
2221 | The First Martian Revolt is put down by local government forces, with some help from the Terran Space Agency's security forces. Only a few hundred Martians are involved, and very few in the solar population ever learn of the revolt. |
2225 | The first armed Terran Spacecraft is launched. Patrol ships and defensive platforms are to be used in the inner systems to help combat piracy and resolve any further political problems on Mars. |
2226 | The beginning of wide-spread expansion into Saturn’s planetary system, with mining, manufacturing and scientific outposts. Construction of the Titan Space Docks begins. Orbiting fueling stations opened around Dione and Rhea. |
2238 | Construction of mining facilities begins on Titan and Dione, around Saturn. |
2240 | Terra-forming of Venus begins. This is a much more difficult task than Mars, thus the final completion date must be set far into the future - approx. 2800 A.D. |
2242 | Terran and Lunar governments sign Lunar Independence Compact of 2240. This guarantees Lunar independence by the year 2300, while strengthening economic and political ties between the two worlds. |
2245 | Construction of the Inner-Space Transportation Hub begins. |
2251 | A large Asteroid (800m across) slams into a north-eastern province of the Chinese Republic. This causes wide-spread destruction and geo-political chaos. Over 350,000 are killed initially, while another 8 million die from related illnesses within one year of the impact. |
2253 | A planet wide economic crisis, due to the 2251 Impact, is averted with help from the Lunar and Martian Colonies. |
2254 | Funding for the first Inter-stellar Spacecraft Program is cancelled. This includes research and development of faster than light (FTL) drive systems. |
2256 | Terran Government doubles the number of asteroid defense platforms in and around Earth and Mars. |
2265 | The Terran, Lunar, Martian, and Venusian governments join to form the Terran Republic. |
2270 | Construction begins on colonies around Jupiter. Jupiter’s high gravity and the travel time to these outposts limit their viability - but increases in engine power and ship sizes are hoped to offset this problem in the future. |
2275 | System Wide Census compiled. 9.5 Billion Humans inhabit the Solar System. 1.25 Billion live off Earth. Estimate of 14 Billion people in the Solar System by 2400. |
2296 | Terran Republic declares plans to restart interstellar exploration programs, and launch the first ships to the four closest star systems. |
